Black Flag taldea 1976an sortu zen, Hermosilla Beach hirian (Kalifornia, USA). Taldearen izenak, euskaraz, "Bandera beltza" esan nahi du eta bere rock anarkismoaren ezaugarri garbia da. Baita ere taldearen logoa. Hardcore punk musika lantzen zuten, biziki. Amerikar punk underground eszenaren talderik errespetatuenetako bat da gaur egun.
Black Flag taldeak hardcore musika gazteari bultzada eman zion eta punk estiloa eboluzionatu, 80. hamarkada hasieran. SST Records zigiluaren arduradunak izan ziren ere. 1981tik 1986ra, Henry Rollins jauna izan zen talde honen abeslari sutsua. Andoain herriko banda batek, 30% taldea, Black Flag taldearen "Six pack" kantua birmoldatu zuen beraien lehen maketan. 1996ko udan ekoiztu zuten, Jomes Hamilton estudioetan.
